Artichokes!! Am cooking them for the first time? Any recipes for a dipping sauce?

I have never cooked artichokes before and think I know what to do. I would like suggestions for an interesting sauce that I can use as a dipping sauce. Also, if you have any tips for this first time artichoke cook, would appreciate them. Thanks!Artichokes!! Am cooking them for the first time? Any recipes for a dipping sauce?
first you must steam or boil the artichoke until it is easy to bite the meat of the leaves. for a dipping sauce i usually use butter. but another way to make them really tasty is to cook them and let them cool for a little bit. separate the center leaves a little bit and dig out the tops of the hearts. that is the bottom and fleshiest part of the artichoke. you are only taking out the spiny needle like stuff on top of the heart. while the artichokes are cooling mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, basil and any other spices you like. add some flavored oil to the dry mixture. may favorite is garlic oil. stuff the center of the artichoke and some of the surrounding leaves with the mixture. you can add a little bit more oil on top and some cheese and bake.

this is one of my favorite ways to eat it. its a little messy but very worth it.Artichokes!! Am cooking them for the first time? Any recipes for a dipping sauce?
Best dipping sauce for artichokes is mayo, lemon juice and tabasco sauce. Alittle lemon juice %26amp; tabasco goes a long way but you should add enough to suit your taste buds. Yum-o!
I use the following website to prepare artichokes.

Here are some dips from this web site:

SOY SAUCE MAYONNAISE

1 cup mayonnaise

录 cup soy sauce (more or less to taste)

A dash of garlic powder

Mix thoroughly.

CURRY MAYONNAISE

1 cup mayonnaise

2 teaspoons curry powder

2 teaspoons butter

Melt butter in a small pan. Add curry powder. Bubble gently for a minute or two over low heat to eliminate any bitterness from the curry powder. Cool and add to mayo.

HONEY MUSTARD DIP

录 cup prepared mustard

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons honey

Combine all ingredients; mix well. Makes about 3/4 cup.
Propably not the answer you are looking for but I love melted butter as a dipping sauce, maybe a little garlic in with it. As for cooking them just put them in a pot covered with boiling water for atleast an hour.
Oh...YUM!!! I Love artichokes!! I steam or boil them, but they need 45 min...no kidding. For the dipping sauce, I make a mayo and mustard mix...more mayo than mustard, but it's up to you!!
Keep it simple. Artichokes, if they are fresh, have a really terrific natural flavor, so you don't want to cover that up. Just a little really good extra virgin olive oil with fresh squeezed lemon juice and a touch of salt and pepper is all you need.
Artichokes are best dipped in nothing but melted butter and salt if you ask me. Try making whatever sauce you like but have that as a back-up.
Oh my favorite thing in the world to eat! If you have a pressure cooker they cook very nice in those. If not you can boil them or steam them. Make sure you get them tender enough by pulling a leaf and checking. (I like mine very tender so I wait until the leafs are falling off) Don't forget that you can eat the heart (this is the meat at the bottom of the choke. Make sure you scrape off the little hairs first and then enjoy the best part!

I like melted butter and salt but I have seen them served with ranch, sour cream, hollandaise (I did not like this), just try a few yourself but I suggest butter!
ARTICHOKES WITH LEMON GARLIC SAUCE

2 artichokes or 4 sm.

FOR SAUCE:

Juice of lg. lemon

1/2 stick butter

1 garlic clove, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Microwave or saute until blended and melted.

Cut off artichoke stem at base and the spiny part leaf tips and discard. Boil large pot of water. Place in artichokes and use lid to hold them under water. Cook for approximately 1 hour. To test when ready, stab with fork at bottom for tenderness.

To cut down time steam in microwave half covered with water for about 1/2 hour. Drain and pour sauce over and serve.

Done all call me for dinner.
